Breathometer, a New Phone-Powered Breathalyzer

It looks like phone-powered breathalyzers are ready to take off: a new one called the Breathometer, has surfaced in prototype form and is looking for public funding on Indiegogo.
Just like anyone expects, it's nothing new in the field: a device connects to the jack of your iPhone, you start the dedicated app, then breathe into the Breathometer, waiting too see how drunk you are. Or at least if you're over the legal BAC.

We're somehow amused with these mobile breathalyzers as it looks like things are a bit amiss in the way people advertise them. When we grew up and were driving students, everyone used to tell us that booze and driving is a no-no, as it will lead to accidents, people injured or killed, extensive damage, and jail.

The way breathalyzer manufacturers talk about alcohol and drinking seems to almost make several cold ones legit and even welcome. We're really not buying the "Out with your pals? Use Breathometer to see who needs to sober up before driving - and who's good to go." thing.

You're either driving or drinking, and one you decided to go Dionysus, you should not thing about going Schumacher any longer. Or is it just us? However, you can read more about the Breathometer here and support the project using this link. We'll be back on Friday with an editorial on the matter.
