In case you were dying as much as we did to find out who will replace Ola Kallenius at the helm of Mercedes-AMG, you will probably be pleased to find out that Mercedes-Benz has finally chosen his successor.
The Members of the Board of Management of Daimler AG have appointed none other than Tobias Moers as the new Chief Executive of AMG. He will start his new job as of October 1, 2013, the same date when Ola Kallenius becomes the new Head of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars after Schmidt curiously stepped down.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG for Group Research and Development Mercedes-Benz Cars: “Tobias Moers has gasoline in his veins. With his technical expertise and enthusiasm for high-performance automobiles, he has made an important contribution to the success of our high-performance brand in recent years. He is an out-and-out AMG man who has helped shaping the brand for nearly 20 years now.”
Moers has been working at Mercedes-Benz AMG since 1994, even before the performance brand was part of Mercedes-Benz. Back in 1999 he assumed overall responsibility for the main AMG model series and has been in charge of automotive development in Affalterbach since 2002. We wish him good luck!
