Just a few hours before the Volkswagen Group should have a bit of a "model unveiling frenzy" ahead of the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, we managed to snatch a couple of photos from Bugatti's Chiron stand.
While the actual car is still covered up, the hypercar's spec sheet wasn't, so all the technical juicy bits are thus finally out in the open.

Despite what most of the automotive press outlets were speculating, it seems that the Veyron replacement will not feature any type of hybrid augmentation for the 16-cylinder, nor for any of its turbochargers.

Instead, Bugatti/VAG engineers decided to play it safe and simply inject more horsepower and torque the old-fashion way - by increasing boost. That said, the 2017 Bugatti Chiron's engine is a more powerful version of the Veyron's powerplant.

Its quad-turbocharged, 8.0-liter W16 engine delivers 1,500 hp at 6,700 rpm and a road bending 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque, which is available from 2,000 rpm all the way to 6,000 rpm. The maximum torque figures are probably limited so that it won't shatter the drivetrain to smithereens whenever the launch control function is used.

Speaking of launch control, the new Chiron will apparently go from 0 to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) in just 2.2 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 420 km/h (261 mph).

Compared to the Veyron's engine, the Chiron's 16-cylinder benefits from four turbochargers that come with a so-called “Bugatti 2-stage turbocharging,” which is probably a fancier name for “twin-scroll turbos.”

Only 500 cars will be built in total, with around 75 to be made annually. Less than 200 of them are coming to the U.S., where the starting price has been set at $2.6 million, according to an American supercar collector.

Believe it or not, it seems that if you have the means, you can still secure one without having to wait for years and years since the only real upgrade compared to the Veyron is an all-new design inside and out. We'll have more info after the new Chiron gets officially revealed in just a few hours.
