Brawn Already Focuses on 2010 Car, Regardless of F1 Crisis

Although they are on the list of 5 teams still on provisional status concerning the 2010 entry list, Brawn GP are not afraid of a potential miss from next year's Formula One roster. Team owner Ross Brawn insisted that he doesn't take that possibility seriously and will not let the uncertainty affect his outfit's plans for the future.

The Brackley based team are currently leading the championship in both drivers' and constructors' classifications, with good chances of retaining that lead to the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Being in pole position for becoming world champions for the first time in team's history, the engineers & mechanics back at the Brawn GP headquarters are reportedly already focusing their attention on the 2010 car.

I'm completely confident (we will be), and you have to plan on that,” said Brawn according to the British media, regarding the 2010 entry list.

There's nothing else to plan for. We cannot allow this row to be a distraction to our engineering and racing plans. We've been working on the new car for about a month now. About a third of our wind tunnel time at the moment is spent on the new car,” confirmed Brawn.

Next year's machinery will undergo several changes in terms of car design, enforced by FIA's new technical rules: refuel ban, tire warmers ban and so on. Most of the teams have already started planning it, despite the political chaos currently dominating the sport.

Brawn GP, along with McLaren Mercedes, Renault F1, Toyota and BMW Sauber have until this Friday to lodge unconditional entries for the upcoming season. This is unlikely to happen, however, as neither the 5 teams, nor Ferrari, Red Bull and Toro Rosso are ready to let go of their demands for the 2010 season.
