Summer is tantalizingly close and this means it’s almost time to take your new bike out for some wild rides. But, what if you can’t decide between a mountain bike or an adventure bike? Not to worry – Cairn launched an e-bike that can do it all, apparently. And it’s called the BRAVe.
UK company Cairn Cycles wanted to blur the lines between different types of off-road e-bikes and it looks like they were successful. BRAVe is an unconventional bike that combines features of both mountain and gravel options. In fact, you could call it all sorts of names, including a monster cross, but the key point is that it’s ready to take on any kind of terrain.

At first glance, it has a longer and leaner silhouette compared to a typical gravel bike, which is designed to improve stability and control. For better comfort, it’s built with a taller stack height and shorter seat tubes. It also has a wide, 29 x 2.5 inches tire clearance that helps you stay in control.

The BRAVe is powered by the Shimano E7000 system and fitted with 180mm disc rotors. In terms of torque, it’s not as “brave” as standard mountain e-bikes that have a more powerful one. But, according to Cairn, the 60 Nm of torque are “more controllable”. The Shimano system is paired with an E8016 630wh battery, which is not discrete because it’s semi-integrated, but that also makes it easy to remove.

Plus, it allows more room for frame bags. Cairn’s new e-bike was designed to be a great companion for off-road adventures and that includes having enough space for all your stuff. There are 5 different places on the frame where you could mount bottle cages and gear, with 14 bosses to attach everything you need to the bike.

Cairn BRAVe is available as a drop bar or a flat bar, with similar specifications. Both models are available for pre-order, with sizes ranging from Small to Extra Large. BRAVe 1.0 Drop Bar is priced at €3,249 ($3,530) and BRAVe 2.0 Flat Bar at €2,789 ($3,030).
