Some say that riding your motorcycle can cure a lot of aches and help one get rid of certain pains, especially those not even the best doctors could ever heal. Take a closer look at the amazing treatment riding a bike provided to Sebastiaan de With and Stuart Philkill. This will definitely make some almost wish they ran into troubles, only to have the perfect excuse to replicate it.
De With life was flowing neatly until two things brought an end to his happiness. He got divorced and lost his job, as if the first was not enough already. Talking to his buddy Stuart, who had also been dumped, they figured out that the trip of a lifetime was a much better choice than sighs and regrets. This is how Ride North was born.

Ride North, until the roads and bitter memories come to an end

Even the very idea of a trip form San Francisco to Anchorage might give headaches to some, but these two felt like this was the best way to leave all the nasty things behind. Ride North was more a journey to help them rediscover themselves rather than yet another long two-wheel trip. They were aiming to go as far down north as they could.

They dream was to even make it to the Denali State Park if the weather conditions and their funds allowed it, extending their adventure some 150 more miles (240 km) north of Anchorage. Which they did… All in all, this voyage would have them ride more than 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on the Pacific North-West Coast, though some of the wildest and most beautiful places, and it was this very fact which helped fulfill their dreams.

A Ducati, a Kawasaki and cameras

Both Sebastiaan and Stuart are photographers and they have been using cameras since they can remember. Because they could not simply pass by amazing scenery, they thought about a clever way to make their trip easier. They started the Ride North Kickstarter campaign, looking for $8,000 (€6,300). Their most beautiful photos were to be printed or offered as digital downloads to the Ride North backers.

The campaign got overfunded so the two set off. Sebastiaan, a huge Ducati fan rode his customized GT1000, while Stuart hopped on his adventure-ready Kawasaki KLR650 and the 2-month-long journey began. The places they’ve been to, people they’ve met plus a lot of other info have all been documented on Sebastiaan de With’s website. Make sure you check out their amazing photos and stories there.

After all, it looks like both Sebastiaan and Stuart got the best treatment available, served in the form of an adventure which will surely attract envy from a lot of people, possibly their ex’s, too.
