Brand New Porsche 911 GT3 RS Rolls into Water in Front of Amsterdam Dealership

A picture of a Gulf-liveried Porsche 911 GT3 RS resting in an unusual position, nose half submerged under water, has been going around the Internet today. Why? Well, I guess it's just one of those cases when somebody screws up big time, and we're all so happy (or is it relieved?) it wasn't us.

In retrospect, maneuvering very expensive cars near the unprotected edge that hovers above (at a fairly considerable height) a large body of water was never a good idea. And it's not like it didn't happen often enough: this is a piece of the parking lot of Porsche Centrum Amsterdam, a Porsche dealership in the Dutch capital. Just look at the image and you can spot another million dollars worth of cars just waiting for their turn to take a bath.

Potentially hazardous as the location is, it still wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the involvement of some human. The reports are still unclear about who did what exactly, but two stories seem to emerge as favorites. One says that it was a mechanic who somehow managed to allow the car to roll into the water, while the second postulates that the guy applying the Gulf livery is the culprit. If we were to guess, we'd go with the latter: a mechanic would be more careful with these things.

Thanks to its rear-engine arrangement, the GT3 RS has seemingly only sustained minimal damage, but judging by the arrangements made to take it out, it's about to sustain a whole lot more. OK, people, you didn't bother to build a curb or a fence, but it's not too late to make amends: use a God damn crane, not a towing truck that will probably rip the car in half.

According to Van Veldhuijzen, the man who happened to be in the neighborhood and took these photographs, the car is still on course to being delivered to its future owner. So if you live in Holland and are expecting a light blue Porsche 911 GT3 RS with Gulf decals, you might want to reconsider accepting that car without a hefty discount. And a thorough mechanical check.
