If you're one of our British readers and currently waiting for your brand new Ford Focus hatchback to be delivered, we might know what's causing the delay. The driver of a large transporter truck decided to take a shortcut in order to avoid traffic, but instead of saving time he ended up ramming most of the cars on top of the trailer against a 14.5ft (4.4 meter) high bridge in Warwickshire, UK.
The Man truck serving as an official transporter for Ford UK hit the Snowford Hill railway bridge in Long Itchington. The dramatic photos taken after the incident shows how at least 5 cars were damaged without ever being driven.
The Focus at the front appears to have taken the brunt of the damage and is a complete write-off. No matter how you look at it, nobody is ever going to fix a bucked chassis and chopped off roof. Best turn those new seats into sofas!
"It's a long road and it was pretty obvious the transporter was too high for the bridge but it kept going and suddenly there was a crunch and all these new cars got wrecked. The driver wasn't hurt but he looked as white as a sheet, he was no doubt trying to think of how he was going to explain it to his bosses at Ford," one witness said, according to The Telegraph.
Behind the damage and the distress caused to the Ford company, there is a little bit of irony here. Which company has its headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire? That's right, Aston Martin. And which grille design did Ford copy? Sounds like the supercar gods finally exacted their revenge.
