Whereas the world of the automobile is multiplying its offering of electric vehicles faster than you can say Nissan Leaf, the world of motorcycles is a bit slower in doing so. This doesn't mean however that, from time to time, a new electric bike enters the two-wheels world.

Brammo, the electric motorcycle manufacturer who already released the Enertia bike, announced today the introduction of Empulse, a 100 mph naked electric sportbike (of course, naked is a relative term in electric bikes, mainly because they have really have nothing to show, you know).

The Empulse is in fact a line of bikes comprising three models, all freeway capable. According to Brammo, the Empulses will be set apart by the range they are capable of sustaining: the 6.0 - 60 miles, 8.0 - 80 mile and 10.0 - 100 miles.

The bikes use, apparently for the first time, the Brammo Power battery pack and Brammo Power vehicle management system.

"The Empulse reveals the significant price performance that we can deliver using Brammo Power technology. Just like it did with the Enertia Powercycle, Brammo has again raised the bar in terms of electrical drivetrain innovation and time to market," Brian Wismann, Brammo Empulse designer said in a release.

Although this week Brammo presented only a prototype of the bike, the bike maker already set a price for it. Empulse 6.0 is priced at $9,995, Empulse 8.0 at $11,995 and Empluse One Hundred at $13,995. All bikes are eligible for federal and state tax incentives, bringing the price of the 10.0 for instance as low to as $7,000.
