Brammo Empulse RR Takes on 600cc Superbikes

The Brammo Empulse RR, the racing version of the standard Empulse was recently put up against some 600cc superbikes, during a practice session at Portland International Raceway.
Despite being ridden by an ex-superbike rider (Steve Atlas), while the others were ‘mere’ club racers, the video proves that the RR is extremely fast, and it doesn’t need to be pointlessly loud to prove that point - it seems to be considerably faster than the street version, the R.

It is very clear that the Empulse RR is the fastest bike on the track, during that particular session, at least, reaching speeds upward of 240 km/h (150 mph) at the end of the track’s straight. It is also great at accelerating out of corners, thanks to the flat torque curve of its electric motor.

Also, while it may be a turn-off for hardcore riders, the bike’s lack of noise will definitely attract new kinds of people, who would have ignored motorbikes altogether, as the combination of two wheels and electric power just seems like a great match, and time will prove this point right.
