The Brammo Empulse electric sport bike has finally been revealed, and from an aesthetic point of view, it looks nearly identical to the prototype first shown nearly two years ago.
This all-electric motorbike is capable of a top speed of 160km/h (100mph) and has a maximum range of 160km (100miles) from its big 10.2 kWh battery pack. Another innovation present on the bike is its use of a six-speed manual gearbox with a clutch.

The bike is priced quite high at $18,995 for the Empulse R and $16,995 for the Empulse, with the R getting carbon fiber bits, fully adjustable suspension and it can be delivered this year. On a bike in this price range, you expect to find all sorts of expensive goodies, such as Brembo performance brakes, Marchesini wheels with Avon 3D Ultra Sport tires, Marzocchi front fork and Sachs shocks on the back.

The price of the bikes could go down if Brammo opted not to use dealers, a service which adds around 15% to the bike’s overall price, and instead have the bike delivered directly to the customer’s house. We like the Empulse and we think that it’s great, especially because it’s one of the first successful usages of a manual gearbox on an electric motor, ever - great!
