Brad Pitt Rumored to Star in Sons of Anarchy Prequel

Brad Pitt may star in the upcoming Sons of Anarchy prequel that's rumored to become a "live project" soon. Back in August 2015, we brought you the news that a Sons of Anarchy spin-off was rumored, and director Kurt Sutter mentioned that the new series was in an early stage of development.

Well, nothing solid came from that direction until recently, when Sutter, who also played the character Otto in the SoA series, revealed that a prequel series might be called The First 9. The action will be (obviously) set in Vietnam War era and will tell the story of how John met Piney and started the club.

Charlie Hunnam, who played John Teller' son Jax in the Sons of Anarchy, was the one who spilled the beans and said that he heard discussions about a prequel and Brad Pitt's name mentioned in relation to the new series. Hunnam also said, reportedly, that having Pitt play his dad in such a series would be "awesome."

The Mayans-centered spin-off is in the works

Kurt Sutter has also added that he's working on the spin-off mentioned last year, a series that has the Mayans MC in the spotlight. The action will be parallel to that in the Sons of Anarchy series, but no further details on it have been given.

The Sons of Anarchy prequel would be limited to only 12 episodes, Sutter apparently revealed, and we can expect that Opie will also be back on the screen.

John Teller, Jax' natural father, is played by Nicholas Guest and appears in only 15 of the Sons of Anarchy episodes, with Jax' mother's second husband Clarence "Clay" Morrow (Ron Perlman) being one of the main characters with appearances in 79 episodes.

Unlike many actors whose love for motorcycles is limited to collecting them, Brad Pitt can often be seen riding one of his machines. He also narrates Hitting the Apex, a recent movie on MotoGP races.
