Bizzare but beautiful is the way we'd describe this G500 4x4 from Brabus. The interior especially defines what a awesome car is, thanks to a sea of blue leather with typical quilting that the German tuner promotes.
When I was a wee lad, Brabus only made a few cool cars, usually versions of the SL-Class and CLK-Class. But now, they're into anything the customer wants, and it's often a case of "the higher, the better".
There have been some lifted G-Wagens in the past, but not like the ones from the "squared" project. People forget how to make the little second power symbol, us included, so Brabus just calls it the 4x4.
That doesn't change the fact that this is a 4-wheeled version of the 6x6 truck or that can probably conquer every terrain on the planet.
On the outside, we have the usual set of Brabus goodies, including black paint, wheels, grey fender flares, a scooped out hood with carbon fiber and custom B grille.
However, it's the inside guts that make you want to stand on your tippy toes to see. You'll have to do that with the G500 4x4 because it's one of those SUVs you need a step to get into.
As we've mentioned already, the focus point of this project is an unhealthy obsession with blue leather; It covers not only the usual places like the seats and armrests but also the floor. That's right, this rugged man's car has fragile yet fascinating blue leather floor mats.
From behind the wheel, all you are going to see is blue and carbon fiber. They've even done the steering wheel and the handbrake lever. As usual, Brabus didn't want to make the rear seat passengers feel left out, so it's splashed expensive carbon fiber there too.
Harvard researchers have published a study that says blue light suppresses the secretion of melatonin way better than any other kind, and exposure to it can shift your circadian rhythms by three hours. This G500 by Brabus could belong to insomniacs and midnight street prowlers... you know, our kind of fun people.
