The summer is coming to an end, which means there is precious little time remaining to showboat your vehicle on the French Riviera until the tourists are gone, and there's nobody left to gawk at your expensive wheels.
Cannes and Nice are fine as well, as is Saint Tropez, but Monaco seems to be the biggest magnet for the owners of exotic cars. That's probably due to the city's involvement with Formula One, the fact you can drive through the famous tunnel or the infamous hairpin, but it might also have something to do with its numerous casinos.
After you park your very expensive yacht in the marina, it's time to go collect the car you had flown in from wherever it is you're coming from - or rather have somebody wait for you with the key the moment you set foot on solid land.
No rules apply to the vehicle choice, other than it needs to be as outrageous as possible. Very expensive won't cut it - if you want to turn heads, it needs to be something extremely rare - a limited edition or even custom made.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG6x6 truck is a pretty rare bird in itself, but the model with the Brabus treatment is even more so. The six-wheeled monster gets the mandatory black paint, a few other cosmetic enhancements as well as a power boost. It may not be one of a kind, but you can be sure it will stand out from the crowd of sleek and low hypercars due to its sheer size and presence.
The only downside is that the same two characteristics might find it hard - or even impossible - to find a spot in the crowded parking lot of a hotel or casino. You can be waving a stack of €100 bills at the parking attendants all you want - that's the moment you'll find out there are limitations to what money can do. It's not like they're going to call a towing truck to remove three cars already parked to make room for you.
To their credit, the guys in this clip did none of that. They simply asked the guy in charge where their friend could park the behemoth, but the answer was a shake of the head accompanied by "too long, too big." Baffled, the fellows want to make sure they got it right "no park here in Monte Carlo?" The reply comes in the form of the same stern shake of the head.
Are we to understand they had to go out on the city outskirts and look for a big rig parking lot to leave the Brabus? Most likely the parking attendant was a bit melodramatic, or something got lost in translation. If not, then Monte Carlo should definitely make a few Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 dedicated parking spaces for this kind of situations.
