Scheduled to premiere at the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt, the B 35 S is a Brabus upgrade package for the Mercedes-Benz A 35 4Matic. The high-performance tuning job includes 365 metric horsepower and 460 Nm of torque, translating to 4.4 seconds from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph).
“One of the sportiest of its compact kind,” the B 35 S also features aerodynamic enhancements, lots of gloss-black garnish, and a few carbon-fiber components such as the tailpipe finishers. Even the interior is loaded with Brabus modifications, including the sill plates and floor mats.

Each build comes with three years or 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of coverage, ensuring “the outstanding quality of all developments of the world's largest independent automotive refinement specialists.” The secret to the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine’s output is the PowerXtra tuning module, raising the suck-squeeze-bang-blow by 44 PS and 60 Nm.

Nearly 50 ponies up on the A 35 4Matic, the B 35 S features a seven-speed DCT and all-wheel drive for an effortless driving experience regardless of weather conditions. Only the oversized wheels – called Monoblock T – and low-profile tires from Pirelli could pose a problem, more so if you remember that many European roads could do better in terms of quality.

Measuring 8.5 by 19 inches front and rear, the wheels are wrapped in P Zero summer tires for maximum performance in the twisties, under acceleration, and under braking. Given that the next step up is the A 45 and A45 S from Mercedes-AMG, the B 35 S bridges the gap nicely.

Brabus hasn’t offered any information in regard to the price of the package, nor did it mention if the parts can be purchased individually. A bone-stock A 35 4Matic with the engine upgrade would be an interesting sleeper, don’t you think?

The A 35 4Matic isn’t exactly cheap either. Over in Germany, Mercedes-AMG wants 47,529 euros before optional extras for the most tech-savvy pocket rocket in the premium compact hatchback segment.
