The most expensive and most powerful roadster in the current Mercedes-Benz open-top lineup is somewhat of a strange beast.
Costing even more than the SLS AMG Roadster (and the newly-released SLS AMG Roadster Final Edition), the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG is also sporting the most powerful and torquiest engine in the entire three-pointed star range.

No less than 630 hp (621 bhp) and an electronically-limited torque of 1000 Nm (738 lb ft) are developed from the six-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 under that sculpted hood.

For most people, those types of figures would be more than enough, especially for a car that has to send them to the asphalt using a rear-wheel drive configuration.

Apparently, there is a niche within a niche out there which isn't satisfied by those “puny” powertrain numbers and desire something even more insane from their SL 65 AMG. For those there are two choices – either a straight jacket or a trip to Bottrop, Germany, where the Brabus nutters can truly unleash the power potential of that V12.

We are talking about 800 hp (789 bhp) and an asphalt-wrinkling 1420 Nm (1047 lb ft) of torque that had to be electronically-limited to “just” 1100 Nm (811 lb ft) for reasons of transmission obliteration. That's all fine and dandy, but we're still more impressed with what can be done in terms of leather from a Brabus Interior - just looks at those stitches!
