Why do we love camper vans so much? Personally, I feel there’s quite a few reasons for that, one of which is the freedom these vehicles allow for. Secondly, it’s their ability to make anywhere your home.
If you find yourself resonating with the above statement, keep reading because what you have before you might very well be one of the best camper vans around. It’s called the Boxstar XL and is made by none other than Knaus. Yes, the German specialist responsible for some of the works already seen on autoevolution.

The Boxstar in no different from the other products Knaus manufacturers in that it offers one of the best thought out interiors we’ve seen. There are very few other vans around that stand a chance of competing with this team's over 80 years of experience. But it is very different from the other products this crew puts out, so keep reading. Here, to help keep your goldfish-like attention going, check out the gallery and the video at the bottom of the text.

Now, this camper comes with two floorplans to choose from, each of which comes in with a length of 19.6 ft (599 cm), an inner width of 6.1 ft (187 cm), and an amazing interior headroom of 7.8 ft (238cm). The only difference between the two plans is the number of windows installed, the way the bedding is arranged inside, and the bedding size. Nonetheless, whatever layout you choose, five adults can rest inside. Yes, five! That's enough room for you, your spouse, your best friends, and one of the kids. Actually, better leave the kids at home for this one.

As far as the exterior goes, well, it’s a van. Not much to say about it except for that massive over cab unit that helps extend the roofing a whole lot more. More importantly, this extra room creates a space just perfect for some bedding, and Knaus knows this. Say ‘Knaus knows this’ five times really fast. Come on, be silly for a moment, wherever you find yourself right now.

Inside however, wow! There’s more room and equipment than you can imagine. Even more, there's all these nooks and crannies where you can store your own goods or whatever you may need. I urge you again to check out the gallery to see some Boxstar magic. If I were to run through all of the equipment onboard, we’d be here for much more than just a toilet break, so I'm just going to brush up lightly on some of the more important aspects.

We already know five folks can sleep inside, so I'll just skip over sleeping arrangements and go right into the thick of it, the kitchen. Here we can find a two-burner stove with a glass cover and a single-basin sink with a faucet. Depending on the floorplan you choose, you’ll either receive an 18.5-gallon (70-liter) fridge or a 23.8-gallon (90-liter) fridge; that's more than enough room and amenities to cook your meals.

The bathroom, too, is equipped with everything you need to have a clean trip. A cassette toilet with Dometic swiveling, shower room with washstand, and sliding mirrors make up the bathroom. But there’s also some storage space here. Other than that, everything else is just electrical and multimedia specs. Oh, and heating and cooling systems, but who wants to spend their cigarette (insert any other nasty habit here) break reading about heaters and coolers?

So how much is this massive sleeper going to run you? Well, that’s a bit hard to say as you’ll have to use a middleman for that. But a quick search shows these campers start at around $69,000 (€57,000). Click here and take a trip to the manufacturer's website. From there, you can find a dealership in your area and can take a gander at one of these babies. Taking into consideration the lifestyle you’ll be experiencing in this puppy, it’s completely worth it.
