Bourdais Considers Legal Actions against Toro Rosso

Toro Rosso might have finished their business with former race driver Sebastien Bourdais, but that doesn't seem to apply to the 4-time Champ Car winner as well. Shortly after being informed, via an official statement, that he will no longer be required to report to the STR headquarters or garage for the remainder of the 2009 season, Bourdais hit back.

In a statement of his own, released yesterday afternoon, he confirmed he is considering legal actions against his former team. The 30-year old insisted that he did nothing wrong in order for his team to “breach its contractual duties towards him” and insisted he will fight for his seat until the end.

I consider that, in doing so, (the team) has breached its contractual duties towards me; also I believe that nothing in my behavior would legitimate a decision of the team to terminate the contract,” sounded the media statement released by Bourdais on Thursday.

I have instructed my lawyers to review the situation including the possibility of issuing legal proceedings,” threatened the Frenchman, who was sacked by STR yesterday morning due to “not meeting the team's expectations in 2009.

In addition, Bourdais admitted his frustration over his former team's decision, as it came in a moment when the Faenza-prepared STR4 was receiving a major upgrade for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Having struggled with an under-performing car throughout the first half of 2009 – team boss Franz Tost himself admitted the STR4 was the less technically developed car on the grid this year – he would have proved that he's worth the STR seat in Hungary, argued Bourdais.

I am convinced that if I was given the chance to race with such new package I would have had the opportunity to achieve satisfactory results,” added the Frenchman, who confirmed switching back to racing in the US is not an option for him anymore.
