Boston Red Sox’s Rusney Castillo Gets His Porsche 911 Turbo S Ready for New Year’s

It was less than half a year ago when he signed a $72,5 million contract with the Boston Red Sox, a contract that runs for the next five years. So it’s no wonder Rusney Castillo is planning to start next year with some new socks. Massive upgrade that is what the baseball star did with the Porsche Panamera 911 S he sent to the custom shop.

Before we talk about the car, let us first meet the guy. Castillo came to prominence back in Cuba, playing for Los Tigres. He stared at the Cuban national baseball team in several international tournaments, including the 2011 Baseball World Cup and the 2011 Pan American Games, before defecting from Cuba to the U.S. one year ago, to pursue a Major League career.

Castillo was given the jersey number (#38) he wore in Cuba and made his debut for the Sox on September 17 as the team’s starting centre fielder.

Good. Now, back to that beautiful supercar. Sure, we all know all about its distinctive design with rear-engine and independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. When you’re a famous sportsman, however, you’re going to have to stand out, which is why Castillo went for the custom touch.

The Turbo S is, of course, the ultimate version of the 911, motivated by the most power-dense twin-turbo boxer engine around and fitted with goodies like center locking wheels and all the best suspension tech.

The Porsche 911 pimping started with a proper white with red accents exterior and continued with a new pair of AV13 Forged wheels. To be more precise, we’re looking at a silver finish with red stripes and accents, red calipers and smoked tail lights. The interior was also upgraded to a black-on-red bad boy finish just enough to bring the bull out of the driver.
