Boss-Style Pandem Mazda RX-7 Makes FD Look Like RX-3

A few days ago, we showed you a nifty little RX-7 that had been converted into a wagon or shooting brake of sorts by Miyoshi Racing Paddock. And now we're back with another cool build. This may look like a highly-modified 70s car, but is actually another FD, a 1997 model.

Miyoshi Racing is a one-stop-shop for the coolest rotary builds in Japan. Established in 1983, this family business specialized in racing builds, but as you can see, it's cranking out amazing road projects now.

The Japanese auto industry was just putting itself together in the 1970s. It never got to make amazing muscle cars like the American companies did. The amazing sports cars from the 90s compensated for this, but they don't have any classic appeal yet.

And that's where this comes in. Yes, it's another Pandem/Rocket Bunny kit, though not like anything you've seen before. The body kit company developed a little-known line called "Boss," which includes a Nissan S14 package that looks just like a first-generation Chevy Camaro.

Miyoshi is good friends with Miura-san of Pandem, and we believe he's the first one to make such a conversion. Inspired by the early RX-3, this adds four round headlights to the front of the sleek RX-7. The massive fender flairs also box in giant tires, everything being tied together by acid green paint, also an RX-3 tribute. AirRex air suspension is needed to get the ride height just right to accommodate the 11.5in-wide Work wheels.

The rear is from another body kit, from RE Amemiya, and is reminiscent of older sports cars from the 90s, such as the R34 Skyline.

Some changes occurred in the engine bay as well, restricting the use of certain performance parts. But this beast still manages to produce 400 horsepower thanks to a new GReddy T88 turbo.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
