Boss Audio has just announced a set of new wireless Android Auto and CarPlay head units, allowing customers to perform an easy upgrade should they want modern infotainment capabilities in their cars.
The pioneer of the new lineup is Boss Audio BVCP9850W, a model that comes with a 6.75-inch touchscreen with multicolor illumination and Bluetooth audio streaming, all while also offering a set of extras. Those include a 3.5-mm aux connector, one USB port for CarPlay and Android Auto, 2A fast charging, front and rear camera input, and support for steering wheel control inputs (though these aren’t included in the box and need to be purchased separately).
The double-DIN head unit doesn’t ship with a CD or DVD player, but instead, it can play pretty much any digital media format out there.
Boss has also announced the new Planet Audio PCPA975W, Sounds Storm Laboratories DD999ACPW, and BOSS Elite BE950WCPA, all featuring a 6.75-inch touchscreen and allowing for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Pricing starts at $399 in the United States starting this week.
Boss Audio says the main focus this time has been entirely on offering a wireless connection to customers, especially because the adoption of CarPlay and Android Auto is on the rise.
“They say ‘the future is wireless’ and we couldn’t agree more. Today’s drivers are demanding easier, more customizable car audio experiences that don’t require a cord,” said Xin Hamilton, Vice President of Marketing at BOSS Audio. “We’re excited to provide them with a bespoke suite of entertainment, customized navigation, and personalized communication options, all of which are easily accessible and inclusive of safety features like rear camera input that keep drivers and their passengers safe and happy.”
Wireless CarPlay is available on all iPhones running the latest version of iOS, while in the Android Auto world, the wireless mode requires a Samsung or Google phone running Android 10 or any other smartphone already updated to Android 11.
