Bosch Emission Systems JV Established

A group of three automotive suppliers, Robert Bosch, DEUTZ and Eberspaecher, announced yesterday the creation of the Bosch Emission Systems joint venture, an effort to develop technologies for diesel exhaust after treatment.

The new JV will begin operations in January 2010, and aims to offer complete system solutions for all types of vehicles, including construction and agricultural machinery, as well as for commercial vehicles. The system to be developed by the three parties is scheduled to begin production in the third quarter of 2010.

We want to establish Bosch Emission Systems in the global market as a technologically leading supplier of complete diesel exhaust after treatment systems. As significantly stricter limits will apply to non-road and on-road vehicles in the future in Europe, North America, and Japan, demand for exhaust after treatment systems will increase strongly," Gerhard Turner, Bosch Diesel Systems president said.

As an engine manufacturer, we have made a name for ourselves with customized solutions. We can now contribute this application know-how to the joint venture. In this way, we are investing not only in our own products, but also in the rapidly growing market for exhaust after treatment systems,” added Gino Mario Biondi, DEUTZ, member of the board.

However, there were no details provided yet on what exactly the technology will be or how will it work. The new venture only says their technology is based on a modular principle, a trait which will allow it to be used and adapted to suit any vehicle or machine.
