On this occasion, Borla Performance Industries designed an exhaust system for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma with the 3.5-liter V6 engine. Priced at $640.99 provided that you buy factory direct, the cat-back exhaust system boasts a pipe diameter of 2.5 inches and a 4-inch single round rolled side exit tip.
The entire exhaust system tips the scales at 29 pounds (13.1 kg), which is not bad at all if you ask me. According to Borla Performance Industries, the cat-back exhaust “provides increased performance, distinctive sound,” and it’s also “guaranteed drone-free.” Thanks to the S-Type muffler technology patented by Borla, the system promises to deliver a deep burble.
The peeps at Borla also mention that the “S-Type muffler features patented straight-through, multi-core technology” that unleashes “hidden horsepower,” whatever that means. “The increased gas velocity adds additional power, driving excitement, improving fuel economy, and ensuring the distinctive Borla Sound of Power.”
As it’s often the case at Borla, this exhaust system comes with with a million mile warranty, which works out to 20,000 miles a year for 50 years. The cat-back exhaust is designed for Tacoma models equipped with the automatic tranny, both two- and four-wheel-drive, and it’s intended for the Crew Cab variant with the short cargo bed.
An optional adapter for the Double Cab with the long cargo bed and 140.6-inch wheelbase is also available for $49.99. Borla has yet to develop an exhaust system for the 2.7-liter four-banger engine in the entry-level variants of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
The upshot, however, is that owners of older pickup trucks haven’t been forgotten. Be it the 3.4- or 3.6-liter V6, Borla has them all for Tacoma models ranging from the 1995 to 2015 model years.
