Boris Johnson Tests Renault Fluence Z.E. at EcoVelocity

London’s Mayor Boris Johnson is really big on greener modes of transportation (too green some might say, given all the duties placed on Londoners), so he was naturally at hand today to check out the latest eco-car shown at EcoVelocity, among them being the new Renault Fluence Z.E., which is making its UK debut.

“I was delighted to try out one of Renault's electric vehicles and glide it silently around the EcoVelocity test track. Trying out cutting edge vehicle technology is what Europe's largest green car show is all about. To help people opt for a greener motor, my Source London electric charge point scheme is being showcased here too,”
Johnson concluded about the test.

We’ll remind you that the three-hugging Renault saloon will go on sale in the British market in the first half of 2012, priced from £17,850 on-the-road after the deduction of the £5,000 Plug-In Car Grant. We’d also mention that there’s an additional cost to take into consideration: a separate battery lease contract from £69.60 per month, based on 6,000 miles/3 years. Additional mileage and contract length details will be available closer to UK launch.

The initial launch version of Fluence Z.E. - called Prime Time - comes with with 16” alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control, ecoMeter and Carminat TomTom Live smart satellite navigation, together with charging sockets on both front wings.

Joining the electric Fluence under the EcoVelocity spotlight was Renault’s Kangoo Van Z.E., the world’s first electric van produced by a mass-market manufacturer.
