Bonkers Brabus CLS 850 Gets Driven by AutoBild

When Brabus arrived at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show it pretty much blew everyone away with their latest tuning packages for the beloved three-pointed star.

One of their most talked-about tuning projects is simply called “850” and it is based on the 585 horsepower engine from the Mercedes-Benz E 63 and CLS 63 AMG S-Model.

The nutters from Brabus took the already powerful, twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter V8 out of one of the AMG cars, touched it with their magic tuning wands and came up with no less than 850 hp and a staggering 1450 Nm (1069 lb ft) of torque.

For obvious reasons, such as the total obliteration of the already-upgraded transmission, the full torque has been electronically-limited to “just” 1150 Nm (848 lb ft), but that is still more than enough to allow an 850 hp, all-wheel drive CLS to accelerate from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.

With that being said, the Brabus CLS 850 is probably the fastest sedan in the world right now, though an official confirmation from the Guiness Book of Record is yet to arrive, since the car hasn't been tested yet at its top speed.

Nevertheless, this didn't stop the Germans from AutoBild to take one of the black prototypes for a spin and properly review it after driving its shorts off on the Autobahn.
