Not too long ago, BMW and MINI announced that their new customers (read: that bought new cars from July 2014 on) will be able to control their GoPro cameras from inside their cars, thanks to a collaboration between the two companies. Better said, the iDrive and MINI infotainment system will allow you to control them.
The reaction was rather positive to such an announcement, especially since a lot of BMW drivers use them on their cars when they go tracking. As you probably noticed yourselves, there are plenty of M3 and M5 cars on circuits around the world.

While the dash-mounted position is still the most popular out there, it’s not always perfect for your needs. Sometimes, you might want to install your camera on the outside of your car, to record the sound it makes or for any other purpose.

The problem is, due to high speeds, strong winds and gravity or lateral acceleration, the suction cups traditionally used tend to fail. Not anymore, as Speed-Mounts reveals its bolt on mounts for GoPro cameras.

Their products are bolted onto the roof rails, straight into the roof racks mounts, thus reassuring you that they won’t come off. They are made of 6061 Billet Aluminum or anodized black. Furthermore, you can mount one on one side of the car facing forward and one facing towards the rear for perfect coverage.

At the moment, they are available for BMW’s 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series and 5 Series, including M models and cost $49.95 here. You can even check them in action in the video below.
