Bollini Motorcycles Go to the Land of Oz

Despite the fact that most of you might think of a sequel of The Wizard of Oz musical fantasy film that could star two-wheeled vehicles taking Dorothy on the yellow brick road, it’s not. We are talking here about a new range of motorcycles making their way to Australia, under the Bollini brand.

The Bollini brand is manufactured by the Qianjiang Group, one of the largest motor vehicle manufacturers in China, producing over 1.5 million vehicles annually. The Chinese-based Qianjiang Group also owns such brands as QJ, Benelli and Keeway.

The new range of 150cc and 250cc Chinese road bikes are projected to go on sale in Australia this December, being introduced into Australia by Motorsport Importer. Unfortunately, they will not be displayed at this weekend's Melbourne Motorcycle Expo.

“Bollini is an exciting and vibrant entry level motorcycle brand with a range of 150cc to 250cc commuters and light weight cruisers,” said Paul Nobbs, Sales & Marketing Manager from Motorsport Importers.

The first models to hit the dealerships are the Speed 150 commuter ($2290) and Cruiser 250 ($4290). They will be followed by the Flash and the SuperShadow in early 2011.

Weighing in 170kg (375 pounds), the Bollini Cruiser is powered by a V-Twin, 4-stroke, air-cooled OHC engine, developing 18 hp at 8,000rpm and 16 Nm (12 lb.ft.) of torque at 6,000rpm. On the other hand, the Speed tips the scales at 128kg (282 pounds), propelled by a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled OHV unit that outputs 13 hp at 8,500rpm and 10 Nm (7.4 lb.ft.) of torque at 7,500rpm.
