The tension mounts at Mugello ahead of the biggest motorcycling event in the country, the Italian GP which will take place this very weekend. MotoGP sources indicate that, in order to prevent any unwanted incidents, the security around Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo will be increased.
Dorna asked the German security company that caters to such needs in the Grand Prix championship to supply two extra guards, one for each of the two Spanish riders. At the same time, MM93 and JL99 have been advised to restrict their moves around the Mugello circuit to the minimum possible.

Helios Xaudarò, Dorna event manager, added that the two Spaniards would do well to try and limit their moves between the team box and their motorhomes. Also, no promotional event involving either rider was scheduled for Mugello.

As crazy as it sounds, it looks like this is how Dorna is trying to avoid any unpleasant encounters between the fans of Valentino Rossi, who is widely regarded as the local god, and the two riders or their supporters.

This is, obviously, bad for the sport, but it appears that Dorna had it coming after the Sepang incident between Rossi and Marquez. More so, after Jorge Lorenzo tried to become involved with the appeal Rossi made at the Court for Arbitration in Sport, the Doctor's fans also put him on the "enemy list."

In the middle of the winter, the members of the Italian Marc Marquez fan club made the decision to skip the Mugello round, after being shunned in the social media. The fan club said that their presence in Mugello, which is also considered Rossi's home round would imply "risks that are too high."

The Spanish MM93 fanclub says that they reserved a tribute at Sachsenring this year, instead of Mugello, but the decision has nothing to do with the country. "We (the Spanish fan club, red.) decide each year which rounds we should attend, and for 2016, we opted for Sachsenring instead of Mugello. This doesn't mean we try to avoid Italy; we will be at Misano and reserve a grandstand," Ramon Marquez, Marc's uncle and the president of the MM93 fan club, adds.

This is going to be a truly fiery weekend, especially with the recent announcements of Vinales and Iannone signing with Yamaha and Suzuki, respectively, and the sensational Mugello track.
