Bob Lutz, former chairman of General Motors North America, has been appointed as Senior Advisor by vehicle interior customization specialist Katzkin, the California-based company announced yesterday.
“As we move forward, it is a huge benefit to be able to get advice from Bob, one of the industry’s most influential and visionary leaders. Bob joins our organization at the right time, as we continue to expand production capacity with a new plant opening in Mexico to extend our US just-in-time manufacturing and Asian manufacturing,” said Brooks Mayberry, chief executive officer for Katzkin.
“Katzkin is on the forefront of revolutionizing vehicle interior customization. I am looking forward to working with Katzkin’s executive team to help them further push the boundaries of this emerging category,” Bob Lutz added.
Lutz, 81, served as vice chairman of General Motors from 2001 to 2010. In 2011 he became chairman of VIA Motors and in 2013 he co-founded VL Automotive. He began his career with GM in 1963, but he also worked for BMW (1971-1974), Ford (1974-1986) and Chrysler (1986-1998).
