BMW’s MINI E Meets Its First Customer

Despite the several delays due to the large number of applicants, the MINI E finally met its first customer, Peter Trepp, a Los Angeles resident.

This is number 111 out of the 500 cars that BMW's Mini is leasing for about $850 a month to learn more about how electric cars will hold up in service, USA Today reported.

“They told me that I would be getting a good car number, but I didn't know the number until I arrived at Bob Smith MINI on Friday around noon. Walking up to the dealership, I saw it. It had just rolled off the transport truck and had not yet been "dealer prepped." Nevertheless, all I wanted to see was the number. And there it was: 111. It seemed an appropriate number for the first delivery,”
says Trepp on his personal blog.

Trepp is not sure why he was chosen as the first customer but that’s the least important thing, as he is too busy sharing his MINI E experience on his blog. The lucky customer picked up his new ride on Friday and drove 30 miles home, parking it next to the other to cars in his household, an Audi Q7 SUV and a Toyota Prius.

The day after he brought the car home, Trepp decided it’s party time. This was a perfect opportunity to show the MINI E to his about 100 guests.

The MINI E has an autonomy of up to 150 miles on a single charge, with the car powered by an 150 kilowatt (201 hp) electric engine plus a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The car accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds, with maximum speed electronically-limited to 95 mph (152 km/h).
