The numbers are in for January on a worldwide level too and BMW is looking forward to a new record this year, the prospects being promising at the moment. Over the course of last month, the German Group managed to sell 142,154 units worldwide, an increase of 7 percent compared to the results of 2014.
Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking 2014 when over 2 million cars were sold, 2015 seems to be promising as well. The board of management is also quite optimistic regarding the future 11 months.

“Looking ahead, we are aiming for further growth in 2015, despite still challenging economic conditions in some markets. There are a number of very exciting model launches coming up this year and our target is to increase global sales for a fifth successive year,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Sales and Marketing.

Defalcated on brands, the blue and white roundel was sold in 124,561 units this January, a 6.3 percent increase overall, compared to the 117,178 units of last year. The 2 Series Active Tourer was already sold in 4,247 units and signs are promising at the moment.

The BMW X4 is also performing quite well, 4,555 units being sold in the last month alone. Of course, it can’t match up to the king of the SUV segment, the X5, that accounted for 12,035 units, a whopping 40.9 percent increase.

Even the i sub-brand is recording good numbers, over the course of January alone, 1,845 units being delivered to customers, 1,416 i3s and 429 i8s.

MINI sales are looking even better with deliveries increasing by 12 percent compared to last year, achieving the best even January numbers in the brand’s history with 17,373 units sold worldwide.

The leader of the sales was the new Mk3 Hardtop in both 3-door and 5-door configurations. The former’s growth went up by 33.6 percent adding up to a total of 7,502 units while the 5-door accounted for 3,876 deliveries.

Sales in Europe are recovering

The biggest sale increase region-wise was recorded in Europe, the old-continent overseeing an 8.5 percent increase compared to January 2014. More than a third of all sales done last month were accounted for by the Europeans, 55,676 to be more precise.

At the same time, Asia posted a 6.6 percent increase taking up 54,188 units in total out of which 40,081 went to China alone (a 7.9 percent increase). The Americas came in third with 27,450 units delivered, 22,209 of them going to the US (a 6.8 percent increase).
