Bigger wheels and stiffer suspension don’t necessarily translate into a sportscar. That’s basically what happened to the BMW Z4. The old generation wasn’t exactly a handling masterpiece, but it was a fun little roadster. However the new one is more refined, something that didn’t go well with the fans.
The current flagship of the range, the Z4 sDrive35iS, will be replaced by a new model from the M Performance division. This will be called the Z5 M35i Performance and should debut with the Z4 facelift at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.
The report from AutoCar
magazine states the Z4 M35i will have the same 340 PS turbo 3-liter as the M135i. The only problem with that is the M135i has a 320 PS version of the engine. Instead, the current flagship of the Z4 range, the SDive35iS, has 340 PS and they will likely use that engine.
What we really should be looking out for are revised bumpers with bigger intakes, bigger brakes and stiffer suspension.
