At this weekend's debut race of the 2013 Season of the VLN Endurance Championship, BMW Team Schubert won the 38th DMV 4-Hour Race at the Nurburgring-Nordschleife.
The number 19 BMW Z4 GT3 driven by Dirk Muller, Jorg Muller and Augusto Farfus earned BMW's 34th overall victory in the VLN. Furthermore, the number 20 BMW Z4 GT3, driven by Claudia Hurtgen, Jens Klingmann and Martin Tomczyk came in third.
In second place came the Timbuli Racing Porsche, 15 seconds behind Dirk Muller, after 27 laps. Klingmann, in the Matte Black Z4 came just 0.6 seconds behind the Porsche for an near photo-finish podium. Another Z4 finished close to the podium, this time it was the no 2 BMW Z4 GT3, driven by Uwe Alzen, Philipp Wlazik and Alexander Margaritis for the H&R Spezialfedern team, that came in 5th.
“That is a really good way to start the year. I enjoyed every single lap in the BMW Z4 GT3,” said Dirk Müller after securing victory. “To return to the Nordschleife two years after my victory in the 24-hour race, and to win again, is simply brilliant. The BMW Z4 GT3 is a fantastic car,” Farfus said after the race.
