Ladies and gentlemen, there’s a reason why not everyone gets to drive on the Nurburgring every day. That track has a nickname, given by the world’s best pilots, that perfectly describes what it feel like for the random newbie: the Green Hell.
That’s because its curves and asphalt can be deceiving, especially at high speeds. Add rear-wheel-drive and humidity to the mix and you get a rather special combination that is bound to put you in danger.

That’s what a poor BMW Z3 driver found out just yesterday, when he decided to take on the track that would claim Niki Lauda’s face a while back.

Unfortunately for him, the gods of racing worked against his plots and somehow drove him into the guardrail, probably also totaling his car (from the looks of it).

Judging by the prices you have to pay when you get in trouble on the ‘Ring, we think he’s in for a heart-stopping bill after he gets the invoice from the track officials.

That’s apart from the costs needed to repair his car, as the Z3 is no longer being made, being replaced by its more stylish brother, the Z4, in 2002. Even so, rare Z3 M cars are still a sought after item since they used the same S54 engine fitted on the legendary E46 M3 and were faster than their Coupe brother.
