Lumma Design is on a mission to make every luxury SUV even more ostentatious. After the Audi Q8 and Range Rover Evoque, the tuner has set its sights on the BMW X7.
Being larger and more expensive than the X5, the new X7 is an obvious target for modifications that are in-your-face. And, predictably, the Lumma body kit adds an extra layer of muscle to the bulkiest of Bimmers.
The timing of this is perfect, as BMW hasn't yet launched the X7 M60i and Alpina is still working on its XB7 or XD7 models. Dubbed the CLR X7, Lumma's vision of the SUV is bound to be expensive and quite fast.
Right now, we only have a handful of photos previewing their designs, but we expect to see the real deal around the time of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. The highlight of the project is not the design, but the power being promised: 680 horsepower from a reworked version of the 4.4-liter TwinPower Tubo V8 normally moving the X7 M50i. That's more than an M8 or pretty much any other stock Bimmer.
Moving on to the esthetics, Lumma is promising big changes and lots of carbon fiber. The naked carbon hood sports a large scoop, cooling that monster V8 and bringing even more attention to the oversized black grilles or the blue of the laser headlights.
Revisions have also been made to the grille, including larger intakes and a deep chin spoiler. Matching side skirts come complete with decorative forward-facing vents and oversized multi-spoke black wheels. Lumma says its X7 will be 1.9 inches wider on each side and sports up to 24-inch wheels.
The obligatory sports exhaust system comes capped in quad 3.9-inch (100mm) black tips while the bumper sports a new diffuser. Revisions to the trunk lid spoiler are said to add downforce to this "elegant VIP lounge."
