The X5 Typhoon develops, thanks to its G-Power SK III eight cylinder supercharged engine, no less than 525 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 275 km/hour. The compressor system increases the 4.8l engine series version power output 170 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and boosts peak torque to 600 Nm at 5,300 rpm, up from 475 Nm.
The compressor is driven by the crankshaft via a cogged belt and is lubricated by its own oil circulation integrated into the engine’s oil circulation system. Completing the engine modifications are the eight injectors which have higher fuel flow and a new mapping for the engine electronics.
Controlled via a six-speed automatic gearbox, the engine allows the X5 Typhoon to jump from a standstill to 100 km/hour in 6.2 seconds. The 200 km/hour threshold is reached in an additional 18.4 seconds.
The Typhoon drives around on G-POWER Silverstone Forged Edition wheels, complete with Michelin tires (15/25 ZR 23 front and back). The body kit of the car provides matching fender liners, which add seven centimeters to the width of the X5.
The rear apron is not a modified production bumper, but an entirely new one. It features two tailpipes of the stainless-steel G-POWER sport rear muffler, each measuring 114 mm in diameter, and a rear diffuser. As for the front, the apron brings with it large air ducts and is designed to reduce lift on the front axle.
All nice and cozy until now, but G-Power decided to give the Typhoon a Bronx gangsta' wannabe look and fitted it with five blue LED lights on the undersides of the X5. Even if this does not minimize the performances of the car, it does tamper a bit with the car's allure. After all, this is not a 'Pimp my ride" wreck in need of a rescue.
Interior upgrades can also be provided, on request, by G-Power. Alcantara leather, aluminum accessories, sports steering wheel or a Typhoon designed speedometer can all be combined to create a unique interior for every driver.
