This man knows how to travel in style. He has a BMW X5 M50d and a really intriguing sailboat attached to it, seemingly telling us that he prefers polo shirts and cardigans. Yeah, we can tell just by looking at these photos.
We have no idea who he is but we already like him. This scene was captured at a petrol station in Geneva, one sharp photographer quickly getting his camera out to snap some shots.

Apart from the impressive M Sport look of the X5 dressed in silver, the purple covers of the boat also make a huge impact on any viewer’s retina.

Having driven the M50d earlier this year, we can tell you that it’s a more than potent car for such purposes and its record-holding powerplant will not be easily overworked.

In case you didn’t know, the M Performance Automobile uses a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine with three turbochargers, making 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. All that is then transferred to the road through all corners of the car, thanks to the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox and the intelligent all-wheel-drive transmission, xDrive.

You might be tempted to think that such a high amount of torque would leave you breathless when suddenly pressing the accelerator but the BMW engineers somehow managed to make it feel smooth, warming you in step by step, giving of a similar vibe to a petrol unit. It’s actually a more than refined engine.

The only problem we’d see in towing such items with the new M50d is the rear air suspension that makes the car feel a bit unsure on its feet and gives you a rather discomforting feeling, especially if you sit in the back. Add a couple hundred kilos of weight on it and things will go sideways pretty soon.
