We've been following the going-ons at the Moscow Mile for many years. And we have to say 2016's lineup has some of the most exciting heavyweight punchers. We don't think that the people who engineered the first BMW X5 ever imagined it would turn into a 750 horsepower drag racing truck.
Sooner or later, we're going to have to turn this sport into something resembling tractor pulling. Because how else can you demonstrate the capabilities of a 2.3-ton vehicle with 4x4 and around 1000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.

As impressive as those numbers are, everyone knows that if you want a fast V8 car, Mercedes are the people to ask. Or are they? Let's watch the drag races and see what happens.

First up, we've got a race between the X5 M and the E63 AMG 4Matic. The Bimmer features an Evotech Stage 2 kit that includes a remap of the 4.4-liter engine and completely new exhaust system. The E-Class has an even more famous tuning kit from Renntech. Using Stage 2 shenanigans, the ex-AMG engineers were able to boost their 5.5-liter to the same 750 horsepower output.

Despite the E63 looking like a much faster car, the X5 M just flies away off the line and manages to hold onto its lead until the end of the race. What a monster this turned out to be!

Knowing that Mercedes fans will feel a little disappointed, Aziz A. decides to put on a smoke show with his overpowered W204 C63 AMG sedan. Everybody knows AMG tires are very cheap and last forever, right?

Both the C63 and the killer Bimmer have great reaction times. However, the X5 manages to pull ahead in the first few meters due to the traction advantage. It's then up to the AMG sedan's driver to reel him in, squeezing out a victory by the end of the mile-long drag racing track, even though it looks like their times are identical. That's the kind of surprise we like to see!
