BMW X4 to Be Unveiled at New York in April - Report

If we were to believe everything the British auto journalists are saying, we’re in for a couple of big reveals next year. After reporting that the 4 Series Gran Coupe will surely be revealed in Geneva in production guise, the guys from Autocar.co.uk are reporting that the X4 will be making its debut in April, in New York.

I’m not really sure where they’re getting all this info from (since they’re not quoting anyone at the moment) but all these moves seem plausible, at least for now.

The X4 Concept was first revealed this year, at the Shanghai Auto Show, marking a new direction for BMW’s SUVs, showcasing a front fascia with a new design featuring headlights connected to the kidney grille. Even though some might say the X5 beat it to it, you should consider the fact that the SAV was released after the SAC Concept.

The new model will follow in the footsteps of the original Sports Activity Coupe, the X6 and will populate a smaller niche, dedicated to such vehicles. Using the same platform as its bigger X3 brother, the X4 will be probably using the same engines too, ranging between 2- and 3-liter units with a wide variety of power outputs.

Hopefully, the backseat headroom problem that haunted X6 owners will have been solved by the time the new SAC hits the market.
