BMW X4 to Be Revealed in Full in Less than a Week

Thank the gods for the mighty invention of the Instagram app. More and more people are starting to use it in all sorts of ways and, more recently, so do automakers that want to keep in touch with the latest trends in the virtual world. One of them is BMW.

They just posted a video teaser on the popular platform that says their latest sport activity coupe will be unveiled on March 6th. That means we’ll get to see the production version of the X4 in less than a week. Oh goody, we’ve truly been blessed!

The most recent rumors placed the reveal in full of the new car from Munich in April, at the New York Auto Show but something must’ve changed in BMW’s plans that forced them to change the date and take the veils off sooner than expected.

The new car will be wearing the F26 codename which suggests it will be using the same platform as its SAV brother, the X3 that just received a facelift. The only notable difference will be observable around the back of the car where the roofline will have a sloping shape, reminding us of a coupe.

The engines will most likely be exactly the same as on the X3, even though, at first, we won’t be seeing all of them but rather only the most popular. That means the X4 will be going out with the 3-liter turbocharged petrol engine on the xDrive35i models and two 2-liter alternatives one of them a diesel. Therefore an xDrive28i and xDrive20d (for the European market) are very possible.

One interesting detail still to be unveiled is whether it will follow in the footsteps of his bigger brother, the X5 and present itself with a RWD alternative. No word on that yet but stay tuned as we’ll be getting more information later on this week.
