We really expected to have our minds blown by the new BMW X4, but it was actually more of the same. It's pretty much the same size as an X3, pretty much the same shape as the X6 and will have pretty much the same engine range as ever Bimmer we know.
That's not to say we're not excited, but not a way that makes the hair stand up. What could have made the X4 cooler but also less popular is a full-on coupe body. Practicality would have been compromised, but if the four-door is any worse than the X6, we don't want to go near the back seats anyway.
Theophilus Chin took it upon himself to improve the look of the X4 by rendering his own version. This has a red body instead of that Long Beach Blue of the Shanghai concept. Besides removing a couple of door handles and lengthening the doors, Theophilus also added different fog lights in the shape of those used by the LCI X6.
Whichever form the X4 takes, we're sure there's demand for it out there. If only BMW took a few more risks and made a more honest honest performance SUV, people might stop criticizing them for their compromises.
