Since 1999, as time flew by, BMW introduced a brand new set of SUV-like cars starting with the E53 X5. Over the years we saw the X1, X3 and X6 join in the ranks of tall, all-purpose vehicles from the Bavarian manufacturer.
Next year, we'll be seeing yet another new X model from our favorite brand, the X4. The first official photos of the X4 Concept were just released and we have to say it's everything we ever thought it would be.

As it was expected, the X4 will be following in the X6's footsteps, becoming the second Sports Activity Coupe in the company's line-up. However, the new car will be slightly smaller than the E71 X6 but just by a slight margin.

Measuring 4,648 mm (15 ft 3 in) in length, 1,915 mm (6 ft. 4 in) wide and with a height of 1,622 mm (5 ft, 4 in) the new Concept is almost as big as the X6 only slightly shorter.

The new design tells you that you are in the presence of a true BMW right from the start. The front end styling has classic BMW features like the kidney grille and stylized twin circular headlights. The dynamically contoured LED headlights with their twin-circular appearance is another hint that reassures you that you're in the presence of greatness.

Looking at it from the side, you'll immediately recognize the coupe-style roofline that will remind you of its bigger brother. The rear windows extend well to the rear and are bordered by an original take on the signature BMW Hoffmeister kink. The new 21" bi-color light-alloy wheels are expressive, to say the least, and provide a feeling of depth.

The rear is almost an adapted replica of the front fascia that combines sporting elements with a touch of elegance. The muscular wheel arches and the wide track are emphasized by using LED taillights positioned towards the edges.

There's nothing left to say. Just as it happened with the 4 Series Coupe, that came out looking almost the same as the Concept, we're sure that the new, smaller Sports Activity Coupe will do just the same, providing us with another incredible vehicle, worthy of the BMW badge.

Sure, some will complain about its practicality, especially since it's roof is considerably lower than his bigger brother's, the X6 (which is already considered a useless car because the passengers don't have enough head room). The thing is though, that this car is aiming at the BMW SUV enthusiasts, people that care more about actually enjoying driving a car rather than any other factor.

They want to keep on smiling while the tires screech and the car goes through corners like a mad bull. They don't look at fuel efficiency numbers or how much practicality the car offers, they just want to have fun, and we're sure that the X4 will provide you with plenty once you roll it out of the parking lot.
