BMW X1 Teaser Video Released

German manufacturer BMW is stepping up the pace when it comes to the soon to be launched X1. Following the official teaser photos released last week, BMW has now posted the first video, for the masses, with the new X.

The first thing you will notice in the video is that the X1 is still wearing its test drive camouflage. For some reason, BMW continues to present the X1 in this state even if spyshots of the undisguised thing have been on the web for some time now. Or who knows, maybe, although unlikely, underneath the tatoos lies some never seen before air intake, or a third headlamp...

Before continuing to the video, we'll remind you what the X1 is meant to be all about. First of all, the X1 will come equipped with BMW's xDrive, while the rear wheel drive is expected to come later on. As for the engine choices, here they are:

  • BMW X1 xDrive20d - 177 hp - 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds/top speed 132 mph (213 km/h)/fuel consumption 40.5 mph (5.8 liters / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive23d - 204 hp - 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds/top speed 138 mph (223 km/h)/fuel consumption 37 mpg (6,3 Liter / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive28i - 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds/top speed 142 mph(230 km/h)

Unfortunately for the American consumers, the X1 is not set for the US at least until 2010. The Europeans will start enjoying, along with the new Marrakesh Brown color debuted on the X, this year. Even if prices have not yet been released, the rumor goes it will be priced at around 32,000 euros.
