How would you feel if one day you walked out of your home and walked to your car, only to find it submerged in water and nearly swallowed by a sinkhole that developed in a couple of hours? We’d surely be pissed and so was the owner of this black BMW X1 when she noticed that just happened to her.
A sinkhole started forming just in front of a driveway outside a condominium townhouse in Toronto yesterday, almost eating up a the BMW before the owner could do anything about it. The car ended up with the rear wheels in the hole and panic rose in the mind of Fannie Lau, the driver/owner.
"I found that the water is coming out from the ground of my driveway so I tried to remove my car before it gets worse, but I couldn't," she said to CTV News, Toronto.
She eventually called a crane that safely removed the car from the gaping hole that was seemingly caused by a water main break that force authorities to shut off the water supply for about two hours.
Now, the harshest ones of you out there will probably say that BMW’s xDrive system should’ve gotten her out of that little ditch but taking a closer look shows that this was not the time and place to test the car’s off roading capabilities.
Unfortunately for the building residents, fixing that driveway will cost around $10,000 according to early estimates. If the city won’t cover the bill, that’s some expensive pool they have there...
