BMW claimed 3 “Gelber Engel” awards from the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobilclub (ADAC) this year, for brand strength, X1’s quality and the 520d Touring model.
The ADAC has 18.9 million members and this is the tenth time it hosted the “Gelber Engel” awards, being one of the most coveted prizes in the auto industry. To show the proper respect, BMW’s own CEO, Dr.-Ing. Norbert Reithofer was there to accept the distinction for the Strongest Brand, after the company he’s running defeated Audi and Mercedes-Benz.
The BMW X1 claimed the number one spot in the “Quality” category, where breakdown statistics are used to separate the contestants, after analyzing over 25 million cases. This is the second time in a row the Bavarian crossover wins this award.
In the ‘Touring Sedan’ category, the 520d Touring rose to number one after last year the EfficientDynamics 520d version claimed the same honors. The award for this section was handed out to Dr. Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Sales and Marketing.
