Next weekend, the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be in full swing, greeting its visitors with some of the best designs the world has to offer at the moment. BMW will also be present and it will be bringing along the preview for their upcoming 7 Series, the Vision Future Luxury Concept.
This will be the first time the Concept makes it on American soil, marking its debut and offering a glimpse into the long-term view of luxury as BMW understands it.

“Innovative technology and modern luxury have always been an important part of BMW’s brand DNA,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design about the company’s creation.

“We use visionary concept vehicles like the BMW Vision Future Luxury to show where we may be going with these themes in the future, and to give us new inspiration and motivation. The BMW Vision Future Luxury – with its innovative technologies and with meticulous precision and quality in every detail – takes our thinking on modern luxury a logical stage further,” he added.

The design of the Vision Future Luxury concept is meant to show the audience where the brand is heading, as it was the case with all 7 Series models ever launched. Usually, they are at the forefront of technology, showcasing the latest findings the company has to offer.

The VFL is no different. It’s showcasing organic LEDs, various displays all around the cabin, laser headlights, a CFRP and aluminum body that doesn’t need a full B-pillar and many many other interesting details that can be observed upon closer inspection.

Wood, leather and the most exclusive materials in the world are being used here, reminding us somewhat of the luxury found inside Rolls-Royce models. After all, BMW owns the British company and could use its know-how in the process, right?

Its designers also wanted the world to know just what makes this car so great and the carbon construction, for example, can be seen in the doors, under the seats and in the half B-pillar that unites the coach-style doors.

“The design of the BMW Vision Future Luxury is the messenger of our philosophy of modern luxury, one in which innovative technologies play a key and vital role. These innovations deliver a new, multifaceted luxury experience that spans intelligent lightweight engineering, innovative interior design and a radically new user interface design,” says Karim Habib, Head of BMW Design, summing up the design approach to the BMW Vision Future Luxury.
