BMW has given the world an unofficial price for the upcoming Vision EfficientDynamics, with the vehicle set to retail for no more than GBP150,000 (EUR 176,000 or $235,000 at the current exchange rates), as the Inside Line reports.

BMW Group's head of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, used the launch of the 1 Series M Coupe to tell the aforementioned source that the tree-hugging supercar won't cost more than that when it hits the market in spring 2013.

Of course, any car is placed on the market, where it must face the competition. In the Vision EfficientDynamics' case, the prospects look pretty good as one of it's main competitors, the Mercedes-Benz SLS E-Cell, will be offered for a price of $250,000 (GBP160,000 or EUR 187,000).

We'll remind you that the vehicle uses a hybrid powertrain comprising of a three-cylinder diesel unit and two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear. The vehicle allows the driver to play with 328 hp, needing 4.8 seconds to complete the 0 to 62 mph sprint.

As for the eco part, the car uses 3.76 liters to cover 100 km (62.5 US mpg) and emits 99 grams of CO2 per km. The vehicle offers a total range of 700 km (434 miles), with the electric-only range standing at 50 km (31 miles).

The car offers multiple assets, with one example being the extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).
