After BMW USA put a price on the six-cylider in the 640i, it also released the pricing information for the new 528i equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged unit delivering 240 horsepower to its customer.
The base model with start at $46,700, while $49,000 will get you the 2012 528i xDrive. Both offer 240 hp at 5,000 rpm and 260 lb-ft of torque between 1,250 and 4,800 lb-ft, and can be fitted with the an 8-speed automatic.

As you’ll probably know by know, the engine replaces a normally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-6 that was available in the 2011 model year.

Like the company's latest TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter turbo inline-6, the new 2.0-liter engine combines high-pressure direct-injection and BMW's VALVETRONIC intake control (hence the name: TwinPower) with a forced induction system consisting of a single twin-scroll turbocharger.
