We just entered June, so the May numbers were bound to show up sooner or later. Fortunately for us, they are still on the rise, paving the way for a record breaking year in the history of BMW.
Overall, BMW sales in the US grew by 13.8 percent, reaching a total of 25,230 units, compared to 22,168 units in the same month of last year. As per 2013, the BMW Group sales are up 6.3 percent, reaching 139,142 units, 8,299 more than in the same period of 2012.
BMW and MINI recorded a rise of 10.1 percent in sales in May, compared to last year mostly due to the increasing popularity of the new 3 Series that grew by 47.2 percent, to 9,307 units, the Z4 Roadster (up 19% to 338 units) and the 6 Series (up 26.1% to 914 units).
The BMW Pre-Owned vehicle segment also registered an increase of 13.6 percent, reaching 15,381, compared to the 13,930 sold in May 2012. Overall, from the January to May, the pre-owned vehicles' sales are up 5.7 percent on volume.
“May usually gives us a strong boost as we head into summer and it did so again this year with the newly introduced 320i bringing significant numbers of entirely new customers to the brand,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.
