BMW Undecided on F1 Sell

BMW's team principal Mario Theissen said they want to sell the BMW F1 team as soon as possible and there have been several offers made, but at the moment they are still evaluating them.

The German said, however, that no significant developments have been made since the last race in Valencia. "There's no more that I can tell you. We are one week advanced in the process, but it is still the same process," said Theissen.

"We are evaluating our offers and we are not as far as to have a decision or a clear direction. There's nothing that I can announce," continued BMW's team principal for Autosport.

FIA has considered to keep an open entry for the team in the 2010 season, in the event they succeed in selling to a potential new Formula 1 team. This would make the potential future F1 team the 13th on the list.

"We have got information that we are contender, which is not an agreement or binding. We just got a positive comment. They didn't say that we are preferred, but we are in the running. I don't know about the deadline - I don't even know how many other teams there are in the running," said Theissen.

BMW was linked by the media with a possible return in DTM, but Theissen said BMW Motorsport's focus at the moment remains selling the Formula One team.

"We are focusing on what happens to the F1 team next year, then we will sort out the other issues. From my perspective, I'm mostly focusing on the team. Of course, the drivers are evaluating their own options. But if there is a chance to get together, then fine," said the team principal regarding Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld.
